Dear colleague,

We are delighted to invite you to our satellite symposium, organised by Mundipharma International Limited, entitled A new breath-triggered inhaler for asthma: delivering innovation through design, at this year’s European Respiratory Society International Congress in Paris, France.

In our symposium, we will assess the need for alternative inhalation devices for patients treated with inhaled corticosteroids/long-acting β2-agonists (ICS/LABAs) and introduce a new breath-triggered inhaler for asthma. Presenting a series of interactive talks, the internationally renowned faculty will discuss the current status of disease management in patients with asthma and explore the association of incorrect inhaler technique with poor asthma control in clinical practice. We will highlight how innovative inhaler design, and incorporating some of the favourable attributes of both pressurised metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs) and dry powder inhalers (DPIs), may help reduce the risk of certain critical device handling errors. In addition, the need for good drug deposition in both the large and small airways will be reviewed. Finally, we will emphasize the importance of device technique training and monitoring for patients with asthma and highlight the support materials that are currently available for users of all types of inhalers.

In addition to our presentations, there will be ample opportunity for participation in interactive discussion and question-and-answer sessions, where we look forward to hearing your views and expertise.

We look forward to seeing you in Paris, for what promises to be a highly interesting, interactive and most informative symposium.
