As we welcome the start of Pride, we’re proud to celebrate in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ colleagues, communities and allies worldwide.
While inclusion and equality for LGBTQ+ people may vary around the world, diversity and inclusion is and always will be a global priority at Mundipharma. It is our shared belief that embracing and amplifying diverse perspectives fosters an environment where we are all respected and belong and where we can bring our authentic selves to work without pressure or fear.
Pride month marks an important global occasion to recognise the impact of LGBTQ+ people on our company, our culture and the world at large, while also acknowledging the very real challenges the community still face today.
Pride is more than a month-long celebration, it’s a time to honour the spirit of equality which is the basis of our recently launched five commitments to creating a diverse and inclusive culture at Mundipharma.
To ensure our commitments actively support our LGBTQ+ colleagues, we’re also taking steps to:
- Provide inclusive leadership training to all managers to ensure that they treat colleagues with respect.
- Review our policies and ensure that they are LGBTQ+ inclusive so that no one is discriminated against based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Introduce the option for colleagues and potential colleagues to self-declare sexual orientation and gender identity.
In 2021, we held our first global celebration of Pride at Mundipharma – an important milestone for our organisation. Since then, we have continued our progress towards greater inclusion by joining together, educating ourselves and holding each other accountable for our thoughts and actions.
When I reflect on all that we have achieved in just the past year I’m incredibly proud of the strides we’ve made to strengthen our inclusive culture, encourage greater allyship and build an environment where everyone at Mundipharma feels valued and represented by:
- Introducing our five commitments to creating a diverse and inclusive culture at Mundipharma.
- Launching a new Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
- Establishing a global Inclusion Council that provides support and acts as a voice for all colleagues and plays a critical role in driving our diversity and inclusion efforts across our organisation.
- Appointing leadership dedicated to Diversity and Inclusions at an executive level.
- Establishing global wellbeing ambassadors, with more than forty volunteers acting as We Care Ambassadors to help us practice and prioritise good wellbeing, starting with how we care for ourselves and each other.
Despite our progress, I know there is still more work to be done and that starts with each of us asking ourselves what we can do as individuals to inspire greater inclusion and acceptance. For me, that means setting the tone of respect and kindness for all and encouraging everyone to speak up against any form of discrimination. It also means remaining open-minded and committed to my own continued personal growth and expanding my understanding of the LGBTQ+ community so that I can be a role model and a true ally.
We are all role models to someone. So, I encourage you to use this month to get involved in Pride and show your support.
