Where care and collaboration meet to make a difference when it matters most
In today’s ever evolving healthcare landscape, it is essential to take a holistic approach that places patients at the centre of all we do. At Mundipharma, we have spent significant time and efforts in ensuring this and that we live by our mission to be United for Patients. From our compliance programmes to our commercial policies, to how the medical affairs team interacts with healthcare practitioners and patient organisations around the world, we strive to ensure all colleagues understand the importance of patient centricity, no matter where you are or what you do.
At Mundipharma being patient centric means designing healthcare solutions around the needs, preferences and experiences of patients, rather than solely focusing on the product and commercial outcomes. This involves everything from drug development and clinical trial designs to how medications are delivered and supported once approved and available.
Patient-centricity means acknowledging that patients are not just recipients of medications but active participants in their healthcare journeys. Their insights, experiences and preferences should inform every aspect of what we do. We know that having a patient-centric organisation drives better health outcomes, stronger relationships with healthcare providers and greater trust in the pharmaceutical industry as a whole. It also instils pride in our employees that their work has a positive impact on the lives of patients and caregivers and makes us all willing to show up and give our best daily.
In 2023 we created a cross-functional, cross-geography Patient Engagement Working Group whose goal is embedding patient centricity throughout Mundipharma. The group meets bi-monthly to share insights, work on patient centricity focused projects and hold us accountable to the mission of United for Patients. Some examples of our patient-centric actions include:
- We implement the concept of ‘patient in the room’ in our internal meetings where possible, putting ourselves in the shoes of a patient and challenging us to keep this front of mind
- Our Safety team participates annually in the WHO’s World Patient Safety Day, where the focus is on safe and timely access to medicines
- We have compassionate use programmes in place in areas where access is difficult
- We have a dedicated Mundipharma Patients Day, where we focus helping all colleagues better understand what it means to be a patient-centric, how we positively impact the lives of patients, and how we can all embody patient centricity whatever our role
- Our annual Patient Centricity Survey gathers insights from colleagues as to how patient centric we are and how we can improve
"Our Mundipharma mission, united for patients, is the cornerstone of our success. It helps us focus on what matters most – making a difference in the lives of patients. It helps us ensure we not only meet all regulatory expectations but also foster trust and deliver meaningful health outcomes. Patient centricity is my fundamental goal and I challenge myself every day to keep this in mind, which gives me the passion for what I do. " Marc Princen, CEO, Mundipharma
